Ghanaian giants, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of Seydou Zerbo as head coach of the club by mutual consent.
His departure comes just a few days after the Burkinabe returned to the club following a two-week bereavement break to bury and mourn his 10-year-old son.
Last August, Seydou Zerbo, signed a two-year deal to lead the Porcupine Warriors, replacing Prosper Nartey Ogum. However, after just seven months in charge, Zerbo has been released from his contract.
Seydou Zerbo has come under a lot of intense pressure following Asante Kotoko’s inconsistent performances. They have won just 5 games in their last 16 encounters with the recent 2-0 home loss against Medeama being the final game of the Burkinabe gaffer.
Seydou Zerbo also supervised the elimination of Asante Kotoko from the CAF Champions League, MTN FA Cup and also missed out on the 2023 President’s Cup title after losing 1-0 to their rivals Hearts of Oak.
As head coach of the Kuamsi-based club, Zerbo took charge of 26 games, winning 11 and losing eight with seven of those games ending in a draw.
In a statement, Kotoko announced that assistant coach, Coach Abdul Gazale will take temporary charge of the first team following the departure of Zerbo.

Kotoko are currently seventh on the league table and six points behind league leaders, Aduana Stars
