Alidu Seidu, a promising Ghanaian talent born in Kumasi on June 4, 2000, has recently inked a four-year contract with the renowned French club Stade Rennais.
His signing marks a significant addition to the club’s roster, joining the ranks of esteemed Ghanaian players such as John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, Kamaldeen Sulemana, John Boye, and Kamal Issah who have also donned the Stade Rennais jersey.
The 23-year-old, who recently joined from Clermont Foot for a reported fee of around 11 million, made the announcement on Monday.

Before joining Stade Rennais, the Ghanaian showcased his talent in 89 matches for his former club Clermont Foot. Notably, he played a key role in their promotion to the French Ligue 1 from the junior Division.
After signing, the Ghanaian expressed gratitude to his former club, Clermont Foot, and expressed eagerness to embark on his new journey with his new team.
“It’s a great privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont, they gave me everything and welcomed me like a member of the family. I became a man there, and the adventure continues at Rennes and I’m very happy about that.”
He reassured the fans of his readiness to battle for the club and give his all for his teammates
“Stade Rennais is a great club, this is a great privilege for me. I am a player who does not like to lose, I am combative, I give everything for my colleagues and I am always looking for progression.”
“I am very close to Kamaldeen Sulemana, and I get along very well with Christopher Wooh. The rest of the players, I’ve faced them in Ligue 1, I’m sure we will get on well in the locker room.”
Stade Rennais’s technical director, Florian Maurice, also showered praise on Alidu Seidu upon his arrival at the club.
“He’s a player who’s been identified for some time, who’s been proving himself at Clermont for a few years now, with an incredible mentality and great leadership. He adapted very quickly to Ligue 1 and is one of the best in his position,”
“We always hope that things work out when we recruit, but in any case, he has what it takes to become a successful player for Stade Rennais.”
Stade Rennais is currently positioned 9th on the French Ligue 1 table, having accumulated 25 points from 19 games.
