Leader of Movement for Change, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has joined in the call for an independent forensic audit of the voter’s register.

He says, it is important for the electoral commission to ensure credibility of every election, because every election starts with the integrity of its voters register, “ whether it is internal, political or general elections, that is where it starts”.

Alan Kyerematen believes that, getting an independent body to conduct a forensic audit of the voter’s register will take out any iota of doubt from people about the commission’s credibility.

According to him, for the sake of ensuring the integrity of the elections, it is important for the commission “ to respond to the specific cases that have been identified, about irregularities in the voter’s register.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a series of calls to the Electoral commission for a proper forensic audit of the voter’s register which, according to them has some irregularities.

As part of drumming home their concerns for the credible voter’s register, the NDC is currently embarking on a nationwide demonstration to petition the Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission says, there is no evidence of irregularities in the voter’s register hence, the call for an independent audit is not necessary.

The Former Trade Minister and seasoned politician joins a growing list of Influential public figures and statesmen who have called on the EC and the NDC to use dialogue to solve their disagreements over the electoral roll ahead of the highly anticipated December 7 Elections.
