Newly announced running mate to the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as (NAPO), has claimed that no previous president, not even the revered first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has developed Ghana as much as the current President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking during his official introduction in Kumasi on Tuesday, NAPO, as Dr. Opoku Prempeh is widely known, declared that no president has developed the nation like President Akufo-Addo.
“Since independence from 1957 till today, we’ve not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 to now if you take your Kwame Nkrumah, no one has become president who has protected Ghana and moved it forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo”
According to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, under President Akufo-Addo’s leadership, Ghana has seen substantial progress in various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and the economy.
Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia, has praised Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as a “problem solver and a generational thinker.” This attribute, he says, would complement him, hence his partnership with NAPO for the 2024 general election.
“When I was selecting my vice presidential candidate, I looked for someone who could help me win the election with experience from the legislative branch since I was a banker and my search landed me in Ashanti region whom I chose Napo… He has insight, is a problem solver, and a generational thinker and I know we share the same vision”
