A petition seeking the dismissal of Special Prosecutor (SP) Kissi Agyebeng has been sent to Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo by President Akufo-Addo.

The petition, authored by former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu, requests Mr. Agyebeng’s removal due to alleged procurement breaches, judicial misconduct, and multiple violations of citizens’ rights.

Amidu’s petition includes claims of rights violations through arrests and detentions, breaches of the right to information, and improper personnel appointments within the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The call for impeachment is reportedly linked to a controversial press conference where Mr. Agyebeng alleged that judges conspired against him. Amidu contends that these statements constitute an abuse of judges and damage the Judiciary’s reputation.

This situation emerged after reports indicated that Mr. Agyebeng refused to resign and instead held a press conference to voice his frustrations with his role.

Additionally, Amidu accuses the Special Prosecutor of violating the rights of individuals such as Cecilia Dapaah and Prof. Frimpong Boateng through their arrests.
