Africa Policy Lens has launched two research-based reports

Africa Policy Lens has launched two research-based reports on the state of the economy and governance in Ghana, as well as their implications for citizens.

The launch took place at the ISSER Conference Facility of the University of Ghana on May 6, 2026.

Speaking in an interaction with journalists on the sidelines of the event, the Chair for the occasion, Dr Edwin Provencal, stated that such evidence-based research by seasoned professionals under the umbrella of Africa Policy Lens is critical to strengthening the country’s governance framework and aligning it with citizens’ aspirations for sustainable national development.

“It is very important to have research-driven entities like Africa Policy Lens dedicate their time and expertise to engaging citizens on key sectors such as the economy and governance, and to translate field data into concrete policy proposals and feedback. This will, in turn, help state actors evaluate the impact of government policies across the board for national development,” he said.

The Director of Research and Administration at Africa Policy Lens, Dr Hayford Ayerakwa, stated that despite some positive gains in the economic sector, significant challenges still affect living standards across the population, according to findings from the research conducted nationwide.

“From 2025, there have been some positive gains in the economy for citizens, but data still shows that more policy interventions are needed to improve purchasing power and strengthen livelihoods over the long term, thereby injecting more resilience into the economic system for sustained growth,” he said.

The well-attended event brought together Fellows of Africa Policy Lens, policymakers, academics, students, journalists, and members of the general public to engage with the findings of the reports and upcoming activities of the organisation.
