After the 4th round of matches in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, several teams have secured their spots in Africa’s biggest football tournament, set to be held in Morocco.
Algeria
Algeria, placed in Group E alongside Equatorial Guinea, Togo, and Liberia, has won all four of its matches, securing automatic qualification to AFCON 2025 in Morocco with 12 points. With two games remaining, the team has already booked its spot.
Angola
The Palancas Negras of Angola currently top Group F, which also includes Ghana, Sudan, and Niger. Angola has surprised many by accumulating 12 points after four matches. Led by Head Coach Pedro Gonçalves, they have scored six goals and conceded just one, with two games still to play.
Burkina Faso
The 2013 AFCON runners-up have secured another spot in the tournament. In Group L, Burkina Faso currently leads with 10 points, ahead of Senegal, Burundi, and Malawi. They have scored 10 goals and conceded three in four matches.
Cameroon
The Indomitable Lions, under Head Coach Marc Brys, have accumulated 10 points from their four qualifying matches, earning their place in AFCON 2025. Cameroon, five-time champions, will be making their 22nd appearance and will aim to win the title for the sixth time.
DR Congo
In Group H, Les Léopards have won all four of their matches, scoring six goals and keeping clean sheets in every game. With two matches remaining, DR Congo is set to make its 21st AFCON appearance in 2025.
Egypt
The Pharaohs of Egypt have won all four of their matches in Group C, amassing 13 points. With two games left, they hold a six-point lead over Botswana in the group standings.
Morocco (hosts)
As the host nation, Morocco has automatically qualified for AFCON 2025. The North African giants have also won all four of their Group B matches, topping a group that includes Gabon, the Central African Republic, and Lesotho. This will be Morocco’s second time hosting the tournament, the first being in 1988.
Senegal
The Teranga Lions of Senegal, the 2021 AFCON champions, will make their 18th appearance in the tournament. They currently sit second in Group L with 10 points, trailing Burkina Faso, with two games remaining.
Côte d’Ivoire
The 2023 AFCON champions are poised to defend their title in Morocco. After four qualifying matches, the Elephants lead their group with nine points, ahead of Zambia (seven points), Sierra Leone (four points), and Chad (two points).
Uganda
The Cranes are set to make their eighth AFCON appearance, having debuted in 1962. Uganda, which has never won the tournament, currently tops Group K with 10 points, ahead of South Africa, Congo, and South Sudan.
The 2025 African Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
