Former black stars head coach Kwasi Appiah has asserted that a monument should be built in honor of the late Christian Atsu to show an appreciation for his commitment to the black stars.
According to him, Atsu’s excellent performances for the black stars deserves to be honored by the nation in order to motivate the young ones in his hometown and the nation as a whole to give off their best when they get the opportunity to play for the national team.
in an interaction the media, the former Kotoko player believes taking such step is the best way to ensure his legacy remains forever.
“I personally would have wished that we try and do something that people will see and say that he did something for the national team that is why there was this thing done for him.
Apparently in his hometown or somewhere they can put something there I would not say it is structural maybe monument or something just for people to look around and say this is a player who played or sacrificed his life for the country in that sense people who are coming up will see and realize that when they get to a stage like this in their life something like this can be done for them”
His comment comes at the back of calls for an asset to be made for the late black stars forward Christian Atsu for his memory to remain in existence even though he is no more.
Atsu starred in the 2015 AFCON for Ghana where his individual brilliance propelled the team to the finals of the competitions where they lost to Ivory Coast on Penalties.
The Ex Chelsea and New Castle player was adjudged as the best player of the tournament following his outstanding performances at the tournament which opened the gateway for him to move to English side Chelsea.
