US Open kicks off with thrilling action and high drama

The opening round of the ongoing Us Open has already delivered its share of drama, upsets, and even a few off-court surprises.

From major Upsets to heartwarming moments and surprising haircuts that have already made the headlines, the tournament is off to a lively start.

Medvedev and Maddison Keys both got stunned in their veery first games. Mexico’s Renata Zarazua knocked out the number 6 seed in a grueling three-set battle-with the help of a staggering 89 unforced errors from the American.

The former world number 1, Medvedev, also got scalped By Benjamin Bonzi in dramatic fashion.

Elsewhere, Iga Swiatek Glided smoothly into the second round, continuing her dominant streak in the WTP, breezing past Emiliana Arango in a lopsided first-round matchup.

Familiar faces like Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik sinner also hit the ground running in dominant fashion without dropping a set either. American stars also made a strong showing in the first round, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz showed their class.

We weren’t short of viral moments also, with social feeds being taken over by a charming viral video when a youth tennis player running a lemonade stand beside the courts had a visit from stars like Alcaraz got heavily tipped.

In a heartwarming gesture reminding us of the joy and spirit at the heart of the Sport.
Carlos Alcaraz’s Surprise Buzzcut also stole the show when he unveiled it right before his first-round game. The Haircut drew more buzz than his impressive performance.

Between the first-round upsets and the resurgence of global talents making their marks and clinching memorable wins, this promises to be an exciting tournament.
