Afro Vibes hall week vendors share mixed reactions over student patronage
Vendors at the Afro Vibes Hall Week celebration, organized by Akuafo Hall, have shared mixed reactions about sales and student engagement at the event.
Speaking to Univers Business, some vendors reported slow patronage of their goods and services, while others expressed hope that sales would pick up as the celebration nears its climax.
“I came on Tuesday and I haven’t sold anything,” one vendor said. “The engagement of students is not massive. I don’t see the program they claim they are hosting — all they do is play music.”
Others, however, were more optimistic.
“So far, it’s been going well as compared to the earlier ones. We are expecting more because from the two days, what we’ve seen, we’re optimistic that the numbers can increase. So maybe tomorrow, Friday, Saturday — we are expecting, and I’m sure people will come and buy, and business will boom,” another vendor said.
“So far students are patronizing. We are hoping by the last day it will be massive,” said a third.
“We started today. So far so good. We have students coming in. The engagement has been good. We are engaging once more, and we are just hoping for the better,” another vendor added.
“Since Monday, business is going small small. Yeah, it’s normal,” one vendor said, describing the slow but steady pace.
