The manager of Hearts of Oak goalkeeper and captain Benjamin Asare, Cecil Tagoe, has proposed a solution to the club’s recent struggles and prolonged trophy drought.
He believes the key lies in prioritizing the recruitment of seasoned and experienced players, rather than heavily relying on talents from the lower-tier divisions.
Tagoe emphasized that while nurturing young players is important, a balance with proven performers is essential if they are to return to their former glory.
“Hearts of Oak needs to strengthen the team with experience and mature players. Samuel Boadu came and met experienced and players that understand the league, that’s why he could win a lot of trophies. I can tell you for a fact that if they do this they will excel next season. All that they need to do is signing two or more experienced players”- he said in an exclusive interview with Univers Sports.
The Phobians enjoyed a fairly good campaign during the 2024/25 Ghanaian football season.
Despite missing out on a trophy, the team’s top-four finish in the Ghana Premier League was an improvement from the previous campaign, where the team almost suffered relegation.
Following their recent progress, Hearts of Oak have set their sights on winning the Ghana Premier League in the 2025/26 season.
To support this ambition, the club is planning to restructure its technical team, with current head coach Aboubakar Ouattara likely to be promoted to the position of Technical Director.
