On Sunday, May 18, 2025, the University of Ghana Stadium will come alive under bright floodlights. Though the sky will be dark, the entire pitch will shine with white light from towering lamps around the stadium. The green grass will look fresh and vibrant, offering perfect visibility for players and fans alike.

The Police Ladies team will not be on national duty, but on a special mission to make history as they face the formidable and experienced Ampem Darkoa Ladies Football Club in the final of the 2025 Women’s Premier League. After 18 match days, Police Ladies topped the Southern Zone, while Ampem Darkoa emerged champions of the Northern Zone.

Ampem Darkoa earned 37 points after 18 matches—enough to secure the Northern Zone title and position themselves for another Premier League trophy. But this time, the Police Ladies are prepared to mount a serious challenge. Rather than focusing on their usual mandate of protecting lives and property, they turned their attention to the pitch—working tirelessly to secure the top spot in the Southern Zone with an impressive 39 points.

These two giants of women’s football are not just battling for bragging rights—they’re also competing for a coveted spot in the upcoming WAFU Zone B Women’s Qualifiers.

Univers Sports’ Petras Anaab Ali was on the ground to monitor Ampem Darkoa’s preparations ahead of Sunday’s clash. In an exclusive interview, Ampem Darkoa Ladies captain Comfort Yeboah shared insights into the team’s readiness:

“Everything is progressing well, especially with our training sessions. The team is fully focused and highly motivated.”

When asked about their opponents, she added:

“We are extremely determined and do not take any team lightly. Our preparations have been intense, and our sights are set high. The unity and strong spirit in camp give us an extra boost as we head into the match.”

She concluded with a message to supporters:

“I encourage all our fans to come to the stadium and cheer us on. We are ready to put on a great performance and make you proud.”

With both sides set to display their skill, tactical discipline, and sheer determination, the final promises to be an electrifying contest—one that could live up to and even exceed expectations.
