The Public Relations Officer of Accra Great Olympics, Moses Nii Armah Oblie, has attributed the club’s inconsistent performance in the second round of the Access Bank Division One League to a string of injuries to key players.
According to him, the absence of experienced squad members has forced the team to rely heavily on academy products — a situation that has significantly disrupted the team’s rhythm and results.
“Coming into the second half of the league, the transfer window had already closed. Then our players began picking up injuries and knocks. Even before the end of the first round, many players had already been sidelined. So, we had to rely on the academy boys to play the league for us,” he told Univers Sports.
The “Dade Boys” have managed just one win in their last five matches, drawing three and losing their most recent game to Port City. This dip in form has seen them fall to 4th place in Zone 3 with 38 points — six behind 3rd-placed Okawawu United, whom they face in their next crucial fixture.
With the promotion race heating up, Great Olympics will be eager to bounce back and close the gap in what promises to be a season-defining encounter.
