Economist and Professor of Finance at the University of Ghana Business School, Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor has called on academics to prioritize book writing alongside journal publications.
Speaking at the launch of Monetary Economics in Emerging and Developing Countries; a book he co-authored with Prof. Joseph Nelles, Prof. Peter Quartey, and Dr. Lakshmy Subramanian, Prof. Abor urged his colleagues to extend their contributions beyond academic literature to influence policy formulation.
“I hope to use this opportunity to challenge all of us as authors. It’s time to write books. While journal articles are great for promotions, we need to go beyond that and contribute to policy formulation,” he emphasized.
The book launch, held last Thursday at the ISSER Conference Facility on the University of Ghana campus, was chaired by Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development.
The event attracted distinguished figures from the banking and economic sectors.
