The Muslim community in Ghana gathered at Parliament House on Friday, March 21, 2025, to observe the 14th Annual Night of Power—a sacred prayer session that brought together worshippers from across the country.

This year’s event was dedicated to expressing gratitude to God for His favor upon the Republic of Ghana, the successful conduct of peaceful national elections, the upholding of the rule of law, and good governance. Additionally, prayers were offered for divine guidance and wisdom for the three arms of government in steering the nation towards sustainable development.

Themed “If you are grateful, more shall be added unto you” (Quran 14:7), the event emphasized the importance of gratitude and appreciation in personal and national progress.

The event was graced by several high-profile dignitaries, including a representative of President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister of State in charge of Climate Change and Sustainability, Hon. Baba Seidu Issifu, and a representative of the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Naema Wahab, who also serves as a High Court judge.

Delivering a keynote speech on behalf of the Chief Justice, Justice Naema Wahab outlined seven essential steps to attain forgiveness and recognition from Allah.

“To attain Allah’s forgiveness, one must show genuine regret for past wrongdoings, take responsibility for their actions, purify themselves from previous sins, seek forgiveness not only from Allah but also from those they have wronged, right their mistakes, swear never to repeat the sins, and incline their soul towards righteousness.”

President John Dramani Mahama, through his representative Hon. Baba Seidu Issifu, highlighted the transformative power of gratitude.

“Gratitude is not just a mere expression of appreciation but a guiding principle for sustainable development and prosperity.”

He further urged the public to embrace a spirit of thankfulness, emphasizing that gratitude fosters unity, responsible stewardship, and opens doors for greater national progress.

The event also featured a generous donation of fifty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 50,000) from President Mahama to support the Zakat Fund Foundation, reinforcing his commitment to supporting charitable initiatives within the Muslim community.

The 14th Annual Night of Power served as a profound reminder of the power of gratitude, forgiveness, and unity, reaffirming the community’s commitment to faith, national development, and social harmony.
