Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has emphasized that the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is as essential as the air humans need to survive, stating it is an absolute necessity.

Kofi Adams, the MP for Buem, told reporters after visiting the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday that qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is important to please Ghanaians.

“Qualification is like the air that we breathe. That’s how bad I need it. So why will you see me here? In the last few days, if you had come here, I have been here regularly,” he said.
“Even yesterday, Sunday, I was here. So it should tell you that I want everything in order for this game. I need it just as Ghanaians need it. I know the players also need it. The coach has also told me he wants it,” he added.

Having missed out on AFCON 2025, the Black Stars will be hoping to restore national pride when they take on Chad and Madagascar.

The Black Stars are currently second in Group I with nine points, level with leaders Comoros.

The team must secure maximum points to strengthen their qualification bid for the biggest soccer mundial to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.
