In preparation for the historic swearing-in ceremony of President-Elect John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture has announced the closure of the Independence Square and its surrounding areas.

This closure will take effect from midnight on December 31, 2024, and extend until January 8, 2025.

The directive, issued by Deputy Minister Mark Okraku-Mantey, is part of the security arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure inauguration ceremony for the Fourth Republic of Ghana’s next leader.

The general public and tourists are advised to take note of the closure and adhere to the directive issued by National Security.
