The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its satisfaction with the conduct of the 2024 general elections thus far, praising the Electoral Commission (EC) for its effective management of the electoral process.
During a press conference on, the Director of Communications for the party’s campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, shared insights on the ongoing elections. Mr. Aboagye noted that the NPP is closely monitoring the situation and is heartened by the voter turnout across the nation.
“The electoral process and so far the turnout is very encouraging, and we’re urging everybody to cast their vote. The electoral process has been extremely peaceful; it’s been very smooth and fluid, and we commend the Electoral Commission and the security services for a job well done so far. Clearly, we can all attest to the progress we are making in our electoral processes and in this country.”
He also highlighted a significant improvement in the voting experience: “You can also realize that by virtue of the reduction in the number of people who vote at a particular polling station, we have drastically reduced the queues that we are usually accustomed to in previous elections, and that’s something we also commend the Electoral Commission for.”
Mr. Aboagye further praised the responsiveness of security personnel: “We also see the swiftness with which the security services, particularly the Ghana Police Service, are handling issues as they arise on a minute-by-minute or hourly basis.”
While acknowledging some delays in certain polling stations, he expressed confidence in the EC’s ability to address these challenges.
“It is important for us to note that despite these issues, we have experienced some delays in other polling stations. However, I am very sure that the Electoral Commission has a strategy in place to ensure that everyone in line gets to vote. So we are encouraging our fellow citizens to head to your polling stations, get in line, and exercise your rights. This opportunity comes only every four years, and you do not want to miss it.”
