The Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission at the University of Ghana, Mudassir Ibn Braimah, has emphasized that the commission distances itself from any unauthorized activities, including the ongoing 2024 Student Representative Council (UGSRC) election.

Speaking to Univers News regarding the Electoral Commission’s postponement of the elections, which resulted from an interlocutory injunction on the process, he stated that whoever is conducting the election independently will be responsible for their actions.

“Whoever organize election should go ahead with whatever they are doing because we are here waiting for management response, official response with our next academic. So whatever will be the case, that’s out of our range. We don’t have a control over that.”

He also mentioned the fact the Electoral Commission (EC) has no control over any election processes organized without the EC’s involvement.

As of 5:50 p.m., a total of 18,319 votes have been cast out of 59,629 registered voters in the ongoing 2024 Student Representative Council elections at the University of Ghana.
