Univers polls have forecasted a decisive victory for Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah and his running mate, Lawrence Edinam Egleh, in the upcoming UGSRC elections. The polls, conducted to gauge student opinion ahead of Election Day, drew significant participation and provided an early indication of the potential outcome.

The results show Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah and Lawrence Egleh leading with a commanding 67% of the total votes, translating to 6,285 votes. This overwhelming support positions them as the clear front-runners heading into the elections, suggesting that their campaign has effectively resonated with the student electorate.

Trailing behind are Maradona Adjei Yeboah and Jeffery Adu Yeboah, who secured 29% of the votes, totaling 2,675. Although they are significantly behind the leading pair, their strong performance in the poll indicates a solid support base, leaving room for potential surprises depending on voter turnout on Election Day.

The remaining candidates struggled to make an impact. Nii Afotey Odai and Abigail Ohenewaa Addai garnered only 26 votes (0%), while Emmanuel Mensah and Justice Abugri received 3%, with 235 votes. Blessing Mantey and Martin Agbefia managed a mere 1%, with 90 votes. In total, 9,311 votes were cast in this presidential poll.

The poll also surveyed other key positions. For the General Secretary race, Deborah Febiri Damoah emerged as the favorite with 64% of the votes, followed by Lorinda Owie Teyehugme with 26% and Duodu Constance Faith with 10%. A total of 247 votes were recorded in this category. In the Treasurer contest, Roland Oppong led with 55%, while Kankam Jonathan and Michael Nash received 35% and 10%, respectively.

As the official Election Day on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, draws near, these poll results offer a glimpse of the potential outcome, with close to 70,000 students expected to vote.
