Samreboi based club Samartex 1996 are expected to receive GH¢500,000 (over $33,000) as prize money after clinching the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.

Samartex were crowned champions of Ghana’s top flight after an electrifying performance over second placed Accra Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena

Two goals in the first half were enough for the Timber Giants to complete a two nil home victory which propelled them to win their first ever premier league title after amassing 61 points out of 34 league games.

Aside from the league trophy and 40 gold medals, Samartex will be awarded GH¢500,000, a significant increase from the GH¢300,000 awarded to last season’s champions, Medeama.

Meanwhile Giants Accra Hearts of Oak who narrowly escaped relegation in the last day of the season will receive nothing as prize money after finishing 14th.

Hearts of Oak successfully retained their top-flight status in the Ghana Premier League after earning a vital 3-2 victory over Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabouh Park.

Pior to the game, the Phobians were teetering on the brink of relegation, sitting 15th on the table with 42 points, just one point above the relegation zone occupied by Great Olympics in 16th place.

As part of the Ghana Football Association led by President Kurt Okraku plans to develop local football, Ghana Premier League teams in the top 10 on the league log will also receive monetary rewards.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, finishing sixth, will receive GH¢60,000 as prize money, Accra Lions, finishing second, will receive GH¢200,000.

Third-placed Berekum Chelsea will take home GH¢100,000, and fourth-placed Aduana will get GH¢80,000.

Other teams include Nsoatreman (GH¢70,000 for fifth), Nations FC (GH¢50,000 for seventh), Medeama (GH¢40,000 for eighth), Dreams (GH¢30,000 for ninth), and Bechem United (GH¢20,000 for tenth).

Samartex will now represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season, marking a significant milestone in the club’s history.

The team’s success this season highlights their hard work, determination, and resilience, setting a new standard in the Ghana Premier League.
