Ghana stage comeback over Ivory Coast to advance to Futsal cup of Nations

Ghana recorded a dramatic 6-2 win over Ivory Coast yesterday in Abidjan to turn a 4-0 first leg deficit in Cape Coast, Ghana, to help team Ghana make the Africa futsal cup of nations.

After suffering a trouncing at the hands of west African rivals Ivory Coast, team Ghana made their way to Ivory Coast with nothing to lose and all to play for, with a tournament berth up for grabs.

Although being a passive participant for 28 years, team Ghana managed to come to the fore in time of need to pull out a 6-2 victory over Ivory Coast to secure their place in Morocco’s finals.

Ghana, having finished as runners-up in their maiden tournament, joins debutants Mauritania and Namibia , as well as highest ranked nations , Angola, Egypt and host nation Morocco, as the teams to qualify thus far.

Mozambique was expected to play host to the 7 other participating nations, but they pulled out of hosing, leaving Morocco to host the tournament for the second successive time.

The 2023 edition of the tournament is expected to commence from April 8,2024 through till April 17,2024. Ghana will be aspiring to become the 4th different nation to win the trophy, and the first west African side other than North African trio Egypt, Morocco and Libya.
