The Ghana Youth Manifesto for Election 2024 and beyond is a youth-led initiative set to be launched tomorrow December 21,2023 with the aim to influence political party manifestos and ensure that needs of young Ghanaians are met by amplifying their voices.

The project, which was organized by various youth-led civil society organizations, is expected to be held at the West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI) at the University of Ghana.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive earlier today, Member of the organizing team for the project, Anthony Caid Gbemafu provided insights into the objectives and mission of the project.

“The Ghana Youth Manifesto is a youth-led initiative that basically seeks to amplify the voice of the Ghana youth, including the marginalized such as persons with disabilities. So you are a youth, I am a youth, and there are a lot of youth out there, and there are actually a lot of challenges that we encounter.”

“To mention, but a few, we will be looking at employment, access to opportunities, and even the marginalized as persons with disabilities. We are collating the voices of the youth, their opinions, their perspectives, their challenges, and we seek to influence the manifestos of the various political parties, and especially whoever forms government after the 2024 election.”

He also highlighted some key areas of focus outlined in their manifesto, which included unemployment and entrepreneurship.

“One of the key [issues] among them is employment. We know the rate of unemployment in Ghana and even globally keeps increasing. Admittedly, the government is doing their best to alleviate, even if not alleviate, to manage the situation. Unfortunately, it’s awfully inadequate. So there’s definitely the need to address the problem of youth unemployment. So we have other aspects of education, basic education with TVET [Technical and Vocational Education and Training], and we are looking at entrepreneurship as well because with TVET, the main goal is to increase the rate of entrepreneurship in the country.”

The team further called on all young individuals to join hands with the Ghana Youth Manifesto to fight for the youth of the country’s needs.

“We still engage stakeholders in the political parties to ensure that our message really see the day of light. It shouldn’t be a 9 day wonder. The aim is to see transformation in your life, in my life, in my brother’s life, in my sister’s life. So until we get there, we are not reliant. So I call on you and everyone to join hands together and make sure that we see transformation in the life of today’s youth and tomorrow’s youth.”
