The management of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in Ghana has decided to grant amnesty to 648 students who had their courses deferred due to failing to complete their registration on time for the second semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
The university management held an emergency meeting and decided to rescind the deferral decision.
As a result of the decision, the university will organize a special examination for the non-registered students after the ongoing second-semester examination. This decision comes after a passionate appeal from the affected students who were unable to register on time due to various reasons.
Earlier, over 600 students had sought to appeal the university’s decision to defer their programs due to their inability to register for courses, and they requested the university’s management to reconsider its stance.
According to the Acting University Relations Officer, the affected students have been given a deadline to provide their details to their respective heads of departments by August 22, 2023, for the final arrangements of the special examination. However, the university will not provide a further opportunity for students who fail to comply with the registration rules.
This decision showcases the university’s consideration for students’ challenges and their willingness to find a solution that benefits both the students and the institution’s academic processes.
