4th Pan African Heritage Conference takes place in Accra

The 4th Pan African Heritage Conference has taken place in Accra from the 15th– 18th of September , 2024.

The conference which drew a healthy number of participants from all across the world involving seasoned academics , policy makers and development partners and situated on the campus of the African University of Communications (AUCC) in the Ghanaian capital city.

The three day Conference was on the theme “ Sharing the Pan African Truths :Narratives of Creativity, Imagination and Resistance”.

Speaking as the Guest Speaker, the Global Board Chair of the Pan African Heritage Museum, Dr Silver Snr intimated that the main aim of the Conference is to draw more prominence and attention on the unique purpose of the museum concept to redefine the true story of Africa as opposed to the pre existing thought about the continent which was self demeaning .

“ The main concept of the PAHM and the annual Conference is to deconstruct the existing I’ll status quo of Africa on the global stage and take a historical detour into the past to tell the accurate stories of the invaluable contributions of persons of color in building the fortunes of the imperialist powers”.

Also, Dr Silver Snr further revealed that it is important for the current crop of leaders on the continent to resist moves by new emerging superpowers like China and Russia to take control of the vast resources of the continent like the Imperialist Western powers did to render Africa destitute and poor over centuries ago through forced occupation and Colonization.

“ The lessons learnt from the past vestiges of colonization and exploitation that Western Imperialist powers and conscientize  both leadership and duty bearers as well citizens of the Black race to resist the tempting moves by both Russia and China which want to feed on the leftovers done by Western nations.

Africa by itself must internalize its problems and maximize its brilliant and burgeoning youthful human resource base to drive inclusive growth and progress in order to assure of a brighter future for its people and its relevance among the comity of nations “.

Furthermore, the Founder and Executive Chair of the Pan Africa Heritage Museum , Professor Kojo Yankah in his welcome address pressed home the need for all persons of African descent and those in the Diaspora to come together to defend their heritage and contribute to preserving the time tested traditions of the Black race by owning the museum project .

“ I will implore fellow Africans within and without the continent to be firm and resolute in their resolve to keep the distinct heritage of persons of color by making it a key duty to project the ideas of the Pan African Heritage Museum to all corners of the world in their daily dealings . May all the discussions and engagements herein in the symbolic 4th PAHWM Conference hold sway the ever revolving questions on the vexed issues of our heritage “.
