Alexander Djiku was the last of the 26 players called by head coach Otto Addo to arrive at the Black Stars training camp, joining in preparations for the team’s double header against Mali and C.A.R in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Osman Bukari, the other missing player, touched down yesterday and partook in the team’s training session at the University of Ghana Stadium, rendering Djiku as the only absentee till his arrival.

The Turkish-based defender was nursing an apparent arm injury, which delayed him from joining the team upon his call-up.

His club, Fenebarche, were monitoring the situation to analyze how the injury situation progresses or exacerbates, in order to make a final decision on his availability for the Black Stars.

However, the situation has been dealt with, allowing Djiku to arrive at the team’s hotel on Saturday, although missing all two Black Stars training thus far.

Djiku, who debuted for the Black Stars in October 2020, will train for the first time with the team on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The defender will hope to add to his 27 caps for the team and, perhaps, his two goals when Ghana take on Mali in Bamako on June 6, 2024.
