Following the release of the latest Fédération internationale de football association (FIFA) ranking published by Footballs governing body, there have been some interesting updates for African teams on the global rankings.
Following the win against Bolivia and Ecuador, 2022 Qatar World Cup winners Argentina still maintain their spot at the summit of the latest FIFA World Ranking.
France comes in second with FIFA maintaining its top five teams comprising of Brazil in third place, England (4th) and Belgium (5th) followed by Croatia (6th), the Netherlands (7th) and Portugal (8th).
Meanwhile, in Africa, the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalist Morocco has moved up two places from 15th position to 13th position and has still maintained its spot as the first in Africa. Senegal follows in second place overall in Africa; Tunisia (3rd), Algeria (4th), and Egypt (5th) follow suit as they make up the top five in Africa’s ranking accordingly.
Nigeria has moved to 6th place in Africa and 40th position globally while Cameroon and Mali claim 7th and 8th spot in Africa respectively. World number 50 and 9th in Africa has been claimed by Ivory Coast according to FIFA. Burkina Faso still makes it into the top 10 as they were ranked 58 globally and 10th in Africa.
Meanwhile, Ghana, after some impressive results in recent games still misses out in being placed among the top 10 African teams as Ghana has been ranked 11th in Africa and 60th position worldwide.
