Liverpool’s teenage prodigy Rio Ngumoha wrote his name into the headlines with a dramatic stoppage-time winner as the Reds edged Newcastle United 3–2 in a thriller at St James’ Park.

The champions took control early on through Ryan Gravenberch’s crisp strike from distance, before Hugo Ekitike doubled the advantage shortly after the restart.

Newcastle’s hopes suffered a major setback when Anthony Gordon was sent off late in the first half following a VAR review for a dangerous challenge on Virgil van Dijk.

Despite being a man down, Eddie Howe’s side showed remarkable spirit. Bruno Guimarães pulled one back with a powerful header, and substitute William Osula sent the home crowd into ecstasy with an 88th-minute equaliser.

But Arne Slot’s substitutions proved decisive. With the match seemingly drifting towards a draw, 16-year-old Ngumoha displayed nerves of steel, arriving in the right place at the right time to lash home a 100th-minute winner — securing all three points for Liverpool and announcing himself on the Premier League stage.

It was a night of drama, resilience, and ultimately, a moment of history for a teenager who may have just delivered the first of many defining moments in Liverpool red.
