The University of Ghana has issued a statement addressing the sale and purchase of bed spaces on campus.

Year after year, allegations are made concerning the sale and purchase of bed spaces in some traditional halls and hostels on campus.

The practice has been found among some staff members in the halls as well as resident students of the halls. In some cases, even strangers off campus are said to be involved in such transactions.
As the desire to be a resident on campus increases day by day, some students and staff members take advantage to exploit desperate bed seekers.

In light of this the University of Ghana issued an urgent notice to discourage the act and warn the culprits on the sanctions for the illegality.

“The University of Ghana strictly prohibits the sale or purchase of bed spaces by students or staff in any hall or hostel. Students or staff who engage in any form of bed trading will face the full rigour of the prescribed sanctions.”

It is however necessary for the general public to note that beds on campus are given out based on the university’s laid out digital procedures.
