A total of 113 students at the University of Ghana have been sanctioned for various examination offences committed during the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years.

‎The names of the affected students, along with details of their offences and sanctions, were published by the Office of the Registrar on Tuesday, August 6, 2025.

‎The notice indicated that 44 students had been awarded a Grade Z, signifying failure in all courses registered for the affected semester. An additional 69 students were given a Grade X, which denoted failure in a specific paper.

‎The offences cited included possession of unauthorised materials such as handwritten notes, mobile phones, smartwatches, and provisional ID cards with inscriptions, as well as the use of digital tools like ChatGPT.

‎Other violations included communicating with fellow candidates during examinations and exhibiting rude behaviour towards invigilators.

‎In a few cases, students received multiple sanctions. One student, in addition to receiving a Grade Z, was reprimanded and directed to submit an apology letter for submitting an exam script two hours after the paper had ended. Two other students who received Grade X were also required to write apology letters for misconduct during the examination period.

‎The University urged affected students who may need emotional or psychological support to contact the University of Ghana Careers and Counselling Directorate.
