The ongoing strike by the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has caused delays in the processing of fees for students at the University of Ghana, preventing many from registering for their courses.

With the academic calendar’s deadline for fee payment and course registration approaching, some students have expressed concerns about meeting these requirements.

However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, outgoing UGSRC President Frank Tsikata assured students that, following discussions with the University Academic Affairs Directorate, the deadlines for fee payment and course registration will be extended. This extension will take effect once the strike concludes and a new academic calendar is released.

“A deadline extension will be granted for both fee payment and academic registration once the strike is called off and a new academic calendar is published,” he stated.

Regarding Law students, who have already reported to school and whose course registration deadline was initially set for Friday, October 11, specific details about their extended deadline will be communicated soon.

“The strike action has inevitably impacted the academic activities of our Law students who have already returned to campus. The specific details of this extension will be communicated shortly,” Tsikata added.

The outgoing UGSRC President urged all students to remain calm and stay updated through the University’s official website and email for further announcements.

“The SRC will communicate any further updates regarding academic deadlines and other important information as we receive them from University management. Kindly remain calm and stay informed of new developments on the University’s official website and through students’ emails,” Tsikata concluded.
