Student activist and former University of Ghana (UG) student, Obed Owusu Asiedu, has strongly cautioned student leaders against adopting the political strategies of the national arena, urging them instead to prioritize genuine student needs.

Speaking on the Campus Exclusive show on Radio Univers on October 6, 2025, Asiedu argued that the tendency to politicize plans turns student representatives into politicians rather than advocates.

“We shouldn’t politicize everything. We shouldn’t just adopt how the elderly play their politics in the national arena because, as students, we need to tailor our policies to meet student needs. We should not sugarcoat our policies just to win political support—that makes us politicians, not student leaders,” he stated.
