The manager of Hearts of Oak goalkeeper and captain, Benjamin Asare, has confidently asserted that no incoming coach would consider benching his player.
This statement follows reports linking former Asante Kotoko coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani to the Hearts of Oak head coach role. Abdulai Gazale and Fiifi Parker Hanson are also tipped to join Dramani’s technical team as assistant coaches.
Gazale, a seasoned assistant with prior experience at Kotoko, is known for his expertise in nurturing young talent. Parker Hanson, currently with Golden Kick, is similarly recognised for his hands-on approach to youth development.
In an interview with Univers Sports, Tagoe underscored Asare’s immense value to the team, praising his leadership qualities and consistent performances.
“As a player, what goes on between a coach and management does not concern you. Even if Aboubakar Ouattara leaves, I don’t think the next coach would ever try to bench Benjamin Asare. Aside from his performance, we know the impact he has on the team. He brings a lot of cohesion because he is a leader,” he said.
Asare was recently named Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2025 Ghana Football Awards, following a stellar season in the Ghana Premier League.
His outstanding form also earned him a call-up to the Black Stars, where he displaced Lawrence Ati-Zigi to become Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper.
