Former Hearts of Oak CEO Harry Zakour has revealed that he almost got divorced because he used his children’s school fees to sponsor the club.

The veteran football administrator and politician made this confession during an interview with Muftawu Nabila on Joy News.

Zakour, who served as CEO of Hearts of Oak for six years, stated that he had to cover the club’s travel expenses for a competition, which led him to pay his children’s school fees. This decision caused significant tension in his marriage, with his wife almost divorcing him.

“I paid for the tickets and travel expenses of the team for a competition. I used my kids’ school fees to make those payments, and my wife almost divorced me,” Zakour said.

However, the issue was resolved amicably, and Zakour’s marriage was preserved. During his tenure at Hearts of Oak, Zakour achieved significant success, including winning the Ghana Premier League, the Ghana FA Cup, the Africa CAF Champions League, and the Africa Super Cup in 2000.

Zakour also served as Chairman of Great Olympics before joining Hearts of Oak. His impressive record makes him one of the most successful club CEOs in Ghanaian football history.
