President Akuffo Addo has appointed the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson as the caretaker for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
This comes after the President accepted the resignation letter of Hon. Dr. Afriyie Akoto, which was personally presented at the Jubilee House on Tuesday , January 10, 2022.
The former minister stepped down as Minister of Food and Agriculture to pursue his presidential ambitions ahead of the next general elections in 2024.
His resignation brings the number of resigned Ministers of State to two, following former Minister of Trade and Energy Alan Kyeremanten who has also indicated his readiness to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) party in the next elections.
According to a press statement from the office of the President issued on Thursday ,12th, January, Mavis Hawa Koomson is expected to act as the caretaker minister at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture , until a substantive appointment is made.
The President thanked Dr. Afriyie Akoto for the services he provided for his government and the country, and he wished him well in his future endeavors.
