President John Dramani Mahama has made key National Security appointments, the Presidency says.
A statement from the Presidency signed by Acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu and dated January 15, 2025 communicates that, “former Chief of Staff Prosper Douglas Bani has been appointed National Security Advisor to the President”.
“Mr. Bani, a former Minister for Interior, brings a wealth of experience and expertise,” the statement said of the appointee.
The statement further indicates that DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as National Security. His task, it says, is to ensure “a cohesive strategy across all security initiatives”.
Retired senior police office COP Nathan Kofi Boakye has also been appointed Director of Operations at the Presidency, “to oversee operational effectiveness in security matters”.
The position of the Director-General of the National Intelligence Bureau, the statement indicates, will be occupied by Charles Kipo.
“The appointments reflect President Mahama’s commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of citizens,” it concludes.
