At the end of the 2023/24 season, Kumasi Asante Kotoko parted ways with 23 players to make room for new talents in the upcoming season.

The departure of some players surprised fans, especially given their strong performances at the tail end of the season that helped the team secure a 6th-placed finish in the Ghana Premier League.

Notable departures from Kumasi Asante Kotoko included Richmond Lamptey, now with APR FC of Rwanda; Bernard Morrison, currently a free agent; Steven Mukwala Dese, who recently joined Tanzanian giants Simba SC; Eric Zeze of Raja Casablanca; and goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, also a free agent.

Several players have exited the club, following the expiration of their contracts, or had their contracts terminated by the club.

The club has begun preparations for the new season, with several players in camp training and aiming to impress the coach and technical team for potential signings. Notably, the club has officially confirmed the signing of three players after weeks of negotiations.

Emmanuel Antwi from Accra Great Olympics.

The 24-year-old is the newest addition to the Kumasi Asante Kotoko setup. Emmanuel Antwi has joined the Porcupine Warriors on a 3-year deal from Accra Great Olympics after they failed to survive in the Ghana Premier League last season. Antwi is expected to add creativity to coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s midfield next season after the exit of Richmond Lamptey.

Esmat Abdul Hamid Mohammed from Al Hilal

The highly rated Sudanese left back has joined Kotoko on a season loan deal from Sudanese club Al Hilal. The 21-year-old was highly recommended by the head coach of the Sudan national team Kwesi Appiah, who also doubles as the technical director of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. Esmat Abdul Hamid is also a member of the Sudanese National Football Team.

AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman from Hay Alwady

The Sudanese has signed a one-year loan deal with the Porcupine Warriors with an option to extend. AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman became the first Kumasi Asante Kotoko signing ahead of the new season. The striker is expected to fit into the shoes of the departed Steven Mukwala Dese, who has joined Simba SC. He is expected to feature in the Democracy Cup game against Hearts of Oak on July 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors are expected to announce the signing of more players before their game against Hearts of Oak in the Democracy Cup.
