Afrobeats star Kelvin Brown, popularly known as Kelvynboy, has opened up about his strained relationship with his former mentor and boss, Stonebwoy.
The “Down Flat” hitmaker rose to prominence under Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group, but their relationship soured in 2019 amid allegations of disrespect from Stonebwoy.
In a recent interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Kelvynboy shared his persistent yet fruitless attempts to mend the rift with Stonebwoy over the years.
According to him, despite his genuine efforts to reconcile, Stonebwoy has remained unresponsive.
“Oh yeah, I’ve been trying for years. Not to say it’s the first thing I think about when I wake up, but when it comes to me and Stonebwoy, I wish we were cool. It’s been five years, right? Honestly, I’ve forgotten what even happened. I’ve been writing songs every day… I don’t even remember what caused the issue.”
When asked about the outcome of his efforts to reconnect with Stonebwoy, Kelvynboy said, “Every time we try, I don’t think he’s ready. But I keep trying… Me, I dey!”
Despite the challenges, it’s clear that Kelvynboy still holds hope for reconciliation with his former mentor, even though the gap between them continues to widen.
