Matchday five of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League served up drama across the country, with Medeama SC climbing to the top of the table, Aduana leaving it late to secure a comeback, and several clubs continuing impressive starts to the season.
In Tarkwa, Medeama SC claimed top spot after edging Dreams FC 2-1 in dramatic fashion.
Despite controlling much of the game, it took a stoppage-time own goal to seal all three points. Dreams remain without a win this season and continue to slide further down the table.
FC Samartex 1996 extended their unbeaten run with a 2-1 victory over Eleven Wonders in Samreboi.
A brace from Emmanuel Mamah proved decisive for the Timber Giants, who continue to look strong at home. Eleven Wonders, however, remain winless and in urgent need of a turnaround.
Aduana FC delivered one of the weekend’s standout performances, coming from behind to beat Bechem United 2-1 at home.
After falling behind in the first half, the Ogya Boys responded with goals in both halves to preserve their perfect home record. Bechem’s early-season struggles persist as they remain without a win.
Young Apostles also made it back-to-back victories, easing past Basake Holy Stars 2-0 in Wenchi. A goal in each half helped the hosts break into the top four, while Holy Stars continue to struggle for consistency.
In Accra, Vision FC continued their fine form with a 3-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars.
A dominant second-half display saw them score three without reply, lifting the club into the top five. Gold Stars, meanwhile, have now lost two on the bounce and face growing pressure.
Nations FC and Asante Kotoko played out a tense goalless draw in Abrankese. Both sides were missing key attackers, and heavy rain earlier in the day made conditions tricky.
The result extends Kotoko’s winless streak against Nations FC and adds to their recent domestic frustrations.
Karela United were held to a 1-1 draw by Berekum Chelsea at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, ending their perfect home run.
Despite an early lead, Karela couldn’t hold on, as Chelsea equalised before halftime and left with a valuable point.
Hohoe United picked up another win with a 2-0 triumph over Swedru All Blacks. Two first-half goals were enough to seal the result at the Hohoe Sports Stadium, as the home side continues to climb the standings.
All Blacks are now winless in three straight matches.
At the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate.

Both teams remain unbeaten, but it was the hosts who looked more dangerous throughout. Lions held firm to maintain their solid start to the season.
With five rounds played, the table is beginning to take shape. Medeama lead the way, but pressure is mounting from in-form sides like Samartex, Aduana, and Vision.
Meanwhile, teams like Dreams, Bechem, and Eleven Wonders will be desperate to reverse poor starts in the coming weeks.
