GFA Affirms Liberty Professional’s name Switch To Hohoe United FC

Ghana Football Association has ratified the change of name of  Liberty Professionals Football Club to Hohoe United Football Club due to adjustments to ownership structure of the team.

The decision follows a letter from the new owners asking for permission to change the team’s name from Liberty Professionals FC to Hohoe United to suit their current structural changes.

This implies that Hohoe United will replace Liberty Professionals in the division one league from next season onward.

Liberty Professionals confirmed the club’s change of business operation on Tuesday, this takeover is being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Peter Amewu who wants to build a sporting legacy in the constituency.

The Approval letter reads;
“We acknowledge receipt of the letter from Liberty ProfessionalsFootball Club requesting for approval for a change of your club’s name from Liberty Professionals Football Club (an incorporated company) to HOHOE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED due to changes in ownership structure of the club.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) also acknowledges receipt of the incorporated documents of the change of name to HOHOE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED from the Registrar General’s Department attached with Registration Number, CS148720721 and TIN, C0061048259 submitted to the GFA. The GFA notes that Liberty Professionals Football Club,an incorporated company under the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) has its name changed correctly under the law.
Consequently, the GFA hereby approves the change of name from Liberty Professionals Football Club to HOHOE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED subject to the conditions below.
Kindly take notice that all documents, rights and obligations including but not limited to, debts or fines owed to the GFA and player registration licenses or fees in the name of Liberty Professionals Football Club shall still remain valid and shall continue in force as if same are owed by or are in the name of HOHOE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED. The statement said.
The Dansoman-based football club was founded in 1996 by the late Alhaji Sly Tetteh and Felix Ansong as the co-founder. The club started their first season in the Poly Tank Division One League and was subsequently promoted to the Premier League in their second season.
The club has since been featuring in the topflight of Ghana Football. Inasmuch as Liberty Professionals are yet to win a laurel, it can boast of nurturing world class players like Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, William Tierro, Michael Essien and Sulley Ali Muntari.
Consequently, Hohoe United is now officially recognized as Liberty Professionals, and it will continue to be responsible for all of Liberty Professionals’ obligations.
The club will play their games at the recently built 7000-seater Hohoe Stadium and compete in Zone 3 of the Division One League”
