The Black Queens are set to resume camp in the coming days as they prepare for their upcoming international friendlies against Senegal. As part of their preparations for the Women’s AFCON in Morocco later this year, the team will travel to Dakar for a nine-day training camp.
During the tour, the Black Queens will engage in high-intensity training sessions and play two international friendlies against Senegal’s Teranga Lionesses in Dakar. The first match is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, with the second match taking place three days later.
This training camp follows an earlier friendly in Morocco on February 21, 2025, against the Atlas Lionesses, where the Black Queens suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat, conceding a last-minute goal.
The team has been drawn into a tough Group C for WAFCON, where they will face defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. The tournament begins on July 5 and ends on July 26, 2025, marking Ghana’s return to WAFCON after a seven-year absence.
Kim Lars Björkegren, the new head coach of the Black Queens, named a 23-player squad on February 2 for the training tour, which includes experienced players like Ernestina Abambilla of Eto Gyors FC, Phillicity Asuako of Police Ladies, and Patience Peterson-Kundok of Trabzonspor.
Hasaacas Ladies goalkeeper Grace Buoduwa Banwaa has earned her maiden senior national team call-up, a testament to her outstanding performance in the 2024/25 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, where she has kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in 16 matches so far, cementing her reputation as arguably the best goalkeeper in the league.
