The Black Galaxies of Ghana tasted a 3-1 defeat to Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) Qualifiers.

The Super Eagles B team took advantage of the defensive errors and missed opportunities from Ghana as they delivered a clinical first-half performance to ensure qualification to the 2025 CHAN tournament.

Ismaila Sodiq broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, with Nduka Junior and Isaac Saviour adding two more in the 22nd and 25th minutes, respectively.

Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea’s Stephen Amankona pulled one back for Ghana in the 73rd minute with a well-taken effort.

The match concluded with a 3-1 scoreline, allowing Nigeria to progress to the CHAN tournament with a 3-1 aggregate, marking their first qualification in six years.

Black Galaxies refers to the Ghana national local football team, which is the team made up of domestic-based players (i.e., players who play in Ghana’s local leagues).
