Ghanaian winger, Ernest Nuamah, survived a collision with Black Stars teammate Francis Abu during the team’s first training session at the University of Ghana sports Stadium yesterday, ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying double header against Mali and Central Africa Republic.
Nuamah, who featured 29 times for his club (Olympique Lyon) in the just ended season, was clattered by Francis Abu in a small-sided mini training game.
Nuamah received the ball, wriggled past 3 challenges, rounded off goalkeeper Joojo Wallacot but was sent tumbling down just as he was about to get his shot into the gaping goal.
Abu instantly apologized for the tackle, showing affection to the injured Nuamah, who was down in agony.
The medical team immediately run to the aid of Nuamah, who looked unable to continue with the session.
Nuamah limped off, with the help of the medics, and sat aside for some minutes before calming the nerves of Ghanaians as he shrugged of the injury scare and completed the full tilt of the session.
The Black Stars continue day 2 of their training session at the University of Ghana Stadium as they prepare to face Mali in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on June 10 in Bamako.
