The University of Ghana has announced the 2025 edition of the Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lecture Series, featuring Mrs. Josephine Anan-Ankomah, Managing Director of Ecobank Kenya and Regional Executive for Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa, as the distinguished guest lecturer.

This year’s theme, “Her Money, Her Power: Making Finance Work for Women,” focuses on financial inclusion and empowerment for women, aligning with global efforts to promote economic growth and gender equality.

The two-day lecture series will take place on Thursday, March 13, and Friday, March 14, 2025, at 4:30 PM at the Great Hall on the University of Ghana campus. The event will conclude with a special ceremony, where Mrs. Anan-Ankomah will be awarded an honorary doctorate degree.

First instituted in 1957, the Aggrey-Fraser-Guggisberg Memorial Lecture Series commemorates the contributions of James Kwegyir Aggrey, Alexander Fraser, and Frederick Gordon Guggisberg to the founding of Achimota College and the advancement of education in Ghana. Over the years, the series has become a prestigious event, attracting diplomatic corps, academicians, educationists, and the general public.

Past lectures have explored diverse topics, including governance, resilience, technology, and humanism, addressing both national and international concerns. This year’s edition promises to uphold this tradition of thought-provoking discourse, inspiring meaningful conversations on women’s empowerment through financial inclusion.
