2024/25 GPL MWK 10: Kotoko drop out of top four, Dreams claim first win

The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League served up an electrifying set of matches, with some teams rising to the occasion and producing outstanding displays, while others defied expectations and fell short of predictions.

League leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars FC maintained their unbeaten run in the Premier League as they played out a goalless draw with Young Apostles FC at the Wenchi Stadium on Sunday.

Bechem United’s Kofi Tompuo’s spectacular volley in the 27th minute was enough to secure vital points at the Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem.
This means, Asante Kotoko are winless in three matches following their 1-0 loss at Bechem in the Premier League on Sunday.

Nations FC stole the spotlight on Sunday as they dominated
Nsoatreman FC with a resounding 3-0 victory in the Premier League’s match day 10, making them the talk of the town. Faisal Charwetey, the league’s top scorer had two goals, adding to the home team’s lead, which was initially opened by Bi Boris, further showcasing his exceptional form.

Aduana FC continued their resurgence with a one nil win against Karela United at home on Sunday. Gideon Boateng’s sole goal was the difference between the two teams at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

League debutants, Basake Holy Stars performed a wonderful comeback to beat Accra Lions 2-1 at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (C.A.M) Park on Sunday. Prince Tweneboah registered a brace in the second half after his goalkeeper Dubi Kassi Tayi guided the ball into his own net in the 33rd minute.

Kpando Heart of Lions triumphed with a narrow 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea at home on Sunday. Christian Agyenim Boateng’s second half strike was all that Lions needed to push them into the top four.

Seidu Abubakar broke the heart of Legon cities after getting on the scoresheet in stoppage time for FC Samartex 1996 in their 1-0 win over Legon Cities at home on Sunday.

On Saturday, Dreams FC overcame Medeama SC 1-0, courtesy Joseph Esso’s second penalty to finally claim their first win of the season but remain in the bottom three.

Hearts of Oak recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Vision FC to secure  back-to-back victories in the Premier League on Wednesday night. Mawuli Wayo second half strike separated the two teams at the University of Ghana Stadium.
