Brands manager of the Ghana rugby league federation Selorm Kuwornu in an exclusive interview with univers sports after the event, narrated what this year’s championship entails as well as measures his outfit has put in place to elevate the standard of rugby league in Ghana.

“So with the league this year this also serves as the platform to let people know about the league so we have launched it. Last year we did not launch it so we have done it ths year. This coming 18th  of March we are going for a walk at the legon school to create awareness, participation and patronage of the league. We have also put down media plans to tour the media outlets to talk about the teams and the league as well. We have sponsors and partners coming on board to help to create awareness for the league we will do a lot of social media postings and also post our videos on our social media handles to help raise the league.  Anybody who wants to watch the league is always happening at Sundays 5pm at the Ajax Park at 12:4 5pm. Come and watch an exciting game, this  year is our league and we are owning our league” Selorm told Univers Sports

He also bemoaned financial constraints as being their biggest challenge therefore called on corporate bodies and institutions to come on board to support them.

“Our main challenge is basically finance. The federation as you see now is being sponsored by a few individuals in the system who have the passion to grow the sports. so  our main challenge is financing and we do not have the resources to support our players.  We are opening up so anyone who has the passion to help us should contact us, We will respond to you and help us to lessen the challenges we are facing when it comes to finances and human resources.” He lamented to Univers Sports.

This season’s league will be in a round robin home and away format, after first round of matches there will be a brief recess before the second round of matches follow afterwards. Winner of matches to be determined by accumulation of points obtained by a team based on performance.
